William Forrey Dedication

SRA held the naming ceremony for the new William C. Forrey racing shell June 8. It was an opportunity to honor William Forrey who served as Director of Gifford Pinchot State Park and who was an early supporter of the club.

The new boat is a Pienert 26 with weight range suitable for 150-210 lbs. For the lighter rower, this boat gives you more freeboard. It sets up well if the lake is choppy.

Learn to Row Day Recap

SRA conducted two Learn to Row Days on consecutive Saturdays during the first weekends of June. SRA volunteers shepherded 15 members of the public through land stations, tethered boats and doubles. Thank you to all who participated.

Rowing Safety is paramount. At any point, most likely for reasons beyond your control, a sudden gust, chop or wake will pitch you into the water, perhaps in the middle of the lake.

Check out this Rowing Safety Video from US Rowing. Plan on attending the Flip Test after the Group Row  July 20.

SRA stores 15 boats at Lake Pinchot including singles, doubles, quads for sculling and a sweep boat. Brands include Vespoli, Peinert and others.
